Refurbished Revol Crate vs New Evolv Crate: Which to Buy?

Quick answer

Choose the refurbished Intermediate Revol Box if you have a medium-sized or growing dog and want to spend less up front; the catalog price is USD 83.40–USD 87.57 against a USD 139.00 comparison price. Choose a new Evolv Dog Crate if you need a specific size from Small through Extra Large, want a contemporary look that blends with your decor, and value buying spare doors and panels later to customize the setup. Both are Diggs crates, so the real decision is size range and future flexibility versus lowest upfront cost.

What you actually get with each crate

The refurbished Intermediate Revol Box 2/2 is an intermediate-sized crate built for growing or medium-sized dogs. It comes in three finishes — Ash, Charcoal, or Smoke — so you can match it to a room instead of hiding it. Because it is a fixed intermediate size, it is the simpler purchase: one box, one color decision, done.

The Evolv Dog Crate is the more configurable option. It is available in Small, Medium, Intermediate, Large, and Extra Large, so you can size it to your dog rather than sizing your dog to the crate. Its contemporary design is meant to blend with home decor, and because Evolv doors and panels are sold as spare parts, you can replace a damaged front door or add a side panel later instead of replacing the whole crate.

Where the money goes

On catalog price alone, the refurbished Revol Box is the lower-cost entry: USD 83.40 or USD 87.57 depending on the listing, against a USD 139.00 comparison price. The new Evolv Dog Crate is USD 191.36 against a USD 299.00 comparison price. That gap is the core of the refurbished vs new dog crate decision — you are paying more for the Evolv's wider size range and its spare-parts ecosystem.

Refurbished pricing reflects that the unit has been previously owned or serviced, so condition varies by listing. The Evolv is new, so you are not assessing wear. Neither price includes future accessories, and the catalog does not state a warranty term for either option, so confirm that detail with the seller before you commit.

Sizing: the decision that outlasts the discount

A puppy that fits an Intermediate Revol Box today may outgrow it. If your dog is still filling out, the Evolv's five-size range lets you buy the size you will need rather than the size that fits this month. If your dog is already full-grown and measures into the intermediate range, the Revol Box removes that guesswork entirely.

Measure your dog standing and lying down, then compare that to the intermediate sizing before choosing. If your dog is between sizes, the Evolv range gives you a closer match; the Revol Box does not offer a size step in either direction.

Repairs, replacements, and long-term cost

One hidden cost of any crate is the part that breaks first — usually a door latch, a panel, or a chewed bar. Evolv Doors & Panels are sold individually in S, M, or I sizes and in Front/Rear Door, Side Door, Rear Panel, or Side Panel configurations, so a single damaged piece can be replaced without buying a new crate. That is a meaningful advantage for dogs who are hard on their equipment.

The Revol Box is a complete unit; the catalog does not list comparable individual spare parts for it. If you buy refurbished, inspect doors, latches, and panels on arrival and ask what replacement options exist if something fails later.

Trade-offs at a glance

• Upfront price: The refurbished Intermediate Revol Box lists at USD 83.40–USD 87.57 against a USD 139.00 comparison price; the new Evolv Dog Crate lists at USD 191.36 against a USD 299.00 comparison price. The Revol Box wins on entry cost; the Evolv costs more because you are buying size range and future flexibility.
• Size range: Evolv comes in Small, Medium, Intermediate, Large, and Extra Large. The Revol Box is intermediate only. Growing dogs or dogs outside the intermediate range should go Evolv.
• Repairability: Evolv doors and panels are sold individually in multiple sizes and configurations; the catalog does not list equivalent spare parts for the Revol Box. If your dog is destructive, the Evolv's replaceable parts can save you a full replacement later.
• Condition and risk: Refurbished means the unit has been previously owned or serviced, so inspect it on arrival. New means no wear assessment, but a higher price. Buy refurbished when you are comfortable inspecting; buy new when you want certainty.

Product facts

• Evolv Dog Crate: Available in Small, Medium, Intermediate, Large, and Extra Large sizes with a contemporary design intended to blend with home decor. You can match the crate to your dog's adult size instead of guessing, and it will not look out of place in a living room.
• Intermediate Revol Box 2/2: Intermediate-sized crate offered in Ash, Charcoal, or Smoke finishes and built for growing or medium-sized dogs. A single intermediate size keeps the purchase simple, but it will not suit a dog that outgrows that range.
• Evolv Doors & Panels - Spare Parts: Spare doors and panels available in S, M, or I sizes and in Front/Rear Door, Side Door, Rear Panel, or Side Panel configurations, sold individually. You can repair or reconfigure an Evolv crate over time rather than replacing the whole unit.
